The Electoral Commission’s (EC) limited voters’ registration exercise will begin across various registration centres today and end on May 8.
The exercise will enable persons who turned 18 after the last registration exercise and first time voters to register to vote in the November elections.
It also presents an opportunity for people who have lost their voter identity cards to register to obtain new ones.
The EC expects that about 1.2 million people will register during the exercise, which will last 10 days.
EC chairperson, Charlotte Osei, says the commission was fully prepared for the exercise and was confident that it would be successful.
“We have deliberately structured it so that during the two week period… we've captured about three weekends so that for people who have to go to work, it gives them as much time as possible over the weekend and it won't be affected by people having to go to work," she said.
