Some residents of Mbrom in Kumasi have threatened to name a choked drain after the Mayor of the city, Kojo Bonsu.
The residents, according to a report by Kumasi-based Ultimate Radio, said the move had become necessary to shame the mayor following what they said was the failure of the city authorities to fix the drain.
People living and selling in the area stated that they had been frequenting the hospital, probably as a result of the pungent smell from the choked gutter.
One resident said although the Kumasi Metropolitan Authority (KMA) spent money to mount giant billboards of Kojo Bonsu in beautiful Kente Cloth at Kejetia and other strategic places even before he became mayor, the authority was failing to fulfil a more important duty of fixing the drain.
"...We will name the pond of water after him - I mean Kojo Bonsu Pond”, he was quoted as saying.

The residents said desilting the drain had not helped and that the authorities needed to come up with a more comprehensive solution, the report added.
