A giant statue has been erected and unveiled to mark the 17 years reign of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on the golden stool.
The about 15-feet-tall statue which was unveiled on Tuesday, April 26 is situated inside the Airport roundabout facing the Manhyia Palace.
The Asantehene his wife Lady Julia and children after a thanksgiving service held in his honour, to unveil the statue amidst loud cheers. He called on all to join hands in developing Asanteman.
The statue was financed by the DDP advertising company DDP and was constructed with the technical support of the Urban Roads division of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA).
Kojo Bonsu, the City Mayor said the gesture was to show appreciation for Otumfuo's numerous initiatives towards uplifting the name of the Asante kingdom and Ghana in general.
