Garry Nimako, the lawyer for Member of Parliament for Klottey Korle, Nii Armah Ashitey, has said that Zanetor Rawlings' acquisition of a voter ID card on Thursday cannot validate her candidature and would not affect their case.
Zanetor won the NPP parliamentary primary for the constituency last year, but her candidature has been challenged by her losing contender, Nii Armah Ashietey, who filed a suit asking that she be declared ineligible because she was not a registered voter.
Zanetor, therefore, took advantage of the Electoral Commission’s limited voters’ registration exercise to register and obtain a voter ID card which now makes her eligible to vote in planned November Elections.
But Nimako is of the view that this action of the daughter of former president Rawlings will not take retrospective effect on the case seeking to annul her election.
