Felix Frimpong, the Ashanti Regional Health Promoter has revealed that about 200 persons died of malaria in the Ashanti Region in 2015.
Frimpong noted that 2009 National malaria Campaign Programme annual report indicate that malaria accounts for about 32.5% of all OPD attendances and 48.8 % of fewer than five years admissions in the country.
The disease he said is a major cause of poverty and low productivity in the Ashanti Region and the country.

He further bemoaned the need for all stakeholders to help adapt various strategies, aside the free distribution of mosquito nets for residents, to help combat malaria.
