Rawlings makes surprise appearance at NDP congress

Former President Jerry Rawlings today showed up at the congress of the National Democratic party (NDP) at the Trade Fair center in Accra with  his two other daughters Amina and Yaa Asantewaa Rawlings.

His wife, and their mother, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings is set to be endorsed as flagbearer of the party ahead of the 2016 elections.  Other members of the Rawlings household who are missing at the congress are the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Klottey Korle constituency Dr. Zanetor Rawlings and the only male son of the family, Kimathi Rawlings.

The NDP have also revealed they are poised to file parliamentary candidates in all 275 constituencies across the country, for the elections. The congress would be conducted and supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC). The party is a breakaway faction of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).
