ASP James Kaletsi, Bawku West Police commander has disclosed that one person has died and two others have sustained severe injuries in an armed robbery incident at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.
ASP James Kaletsi in an interview on Adom Midday News said the four suspected robbers stormed a wholesale shop full of provisions at Zebilla in the Bawku West District and in a bid to escape with their booty, began firing indiscriminately into a crowd at the Akabaa street in the Zebilla Township.
He added that the robbers started firing into the crowd after an alarm was raised by the attendants and the nearby shop owners. The robbers subsequently shot at the two attendants in the shop, killing a middle-aged man in the process.
The attendants, Abdulai Awudu and Abudu Abdulai, have since been sent to the Zebilla district hospital while the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Zebilla hospital mortuary, pending further investigations.
