Gambling centres sprouting up in Akuapem North – MCE reveals

George Opare Addo, the Municipal Chief Executive, has revealed that there is an increase in gambling centres in Akuapem North.

He noted that the increase in the gambling centres have led to an increase in theft cases as many children are stealing from their parents to gamble.

Opare Addo told Adom News the assembly have recorded more than two hundred gambling centers in the municipality with mostly children patronising them.

The Municipal Chief Executive added that majority of the companies handling the gambling centres are not registered with the assembly and not licensed.

He also disclosed in his interview that the Assembly has seized more than 100 gambling machines belonging to some Chinese firms as a measure to curb the situation.

Opare Addo threatened that the Municipal Assembly is ready to prosecute the operators of the centres, since it is affecting the community.
