Police statement on order for Chairman Wuntumi's arrest

The police has issued a notice for the arrest for the NPP regional chairman following allegations that he assaulted the MP for Manhyia North, Collins Owusu Amankwa and the Constituency Secretary for Manhyia North, Felix Ibrahim at Krofrom, Kumasi.

According to reports, the alleged assault took place on the evening of May 1 at a registration centre in front of prospective voters who had queued to register in the ongoing limited voters’ registration exercise.

Collins Amankwa and Felix Ibrahim initially lodged a complaint with the police who subsequently invited Chairman Wuntumi for questioning to assist with police investigations.

A police in a statement signed by ASP Yusif Tanko, Public Relations Officer of the regional police command, however indicates that 'Chairman Wuntumi' refused to honor the invitation. It is in this light that the Ashanti Regional CID has been given instructions to have chairman Wuntumi arrested to assist with investigations.
