Atletico Madrid have  booked a place in the Champions League final after qualifying on a 2-2 goal aggregate against Bayern Munich based on away goal rule.

Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich lose their third consecutive Champions League semi-final against Spanish opposition.

Xabi Alonso opened the scoring for Bayern with a deflected free-kick, only to see his team-mate Thomas Muller miss a penalty a couple of minutes later.

Atletico’s Antoine Griezmann wrestled control of the tie back in the second half.

Robert Lewandowski got one of them before Fernando Torres missed from the spot, to leave Bayern over five minutes in which to grab the goal they needed.

Atletico Madrid are through to the final in the San Siro on 28 May.
