Case against Chairman Wontumi dropped

The Manhyia North member of parliament Collins Owusu Amankwah who was allegedly assaulted by the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party Chairman Wontumi has written to the Police to discontinue the assault case against his assailant.

“Our clients are complainants in the above mentioned case against the Ashanti regional chairman of the New Patriotic Party Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako. Our clients have instructed us to their decision to pursue settlement and have accordingly instructed us to serve you notice of their said intention. We would be grateful if you could graciously suspend further action on the case to enable the parties in good faith resolve the issue in pursuit of the said settlement," a letter written by lawyers of the MP to the Police indicated.

Chairman Wontumi on Tuesday reported himself to the police but was later detained forcing party supporters to besiege the Police station demanding the Chairman’s release.
