Body of DCOP Angwubutoge Awuni, the late Eastern Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police who died on March 14, 2016 will be buried on Saturday, May 7, 2016.
Mr Awuni, who died after a short illness at the Police Hospital in Accra, was known for his honest and frank talk and had many brushes with political authorities.
A family member disclosed that the date for the final funeral rites and burial of the late Deputy Commander is on May 5 to 8, 2016. According to the source, the family was yet to firm up the decision on whether to bury him in Accra and his home town.
The funeral service, it said, would be held on the premises of the Ghana National Police Training School at Tesano in Accra. The ceremony would be followed by a thanksgiving and memorial service at the Christ Apostolic Church at Osu on May 8, 2016.
DCOP Awuni, was a trained journalist who later obtained a master of governance and leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) and rose through the ranks in the Ghana Police Service to become the Commanding Officer of the then Motor Traffic and Transport Unit (MTTU) now MTTD, Accra, a position he held till hid death.
