The Jekiti Government Clinic in the Eastern Region was on Thursday locked up by the landlord of the building it occupies, leaving health officials and patients stranded.
The Clinic is said to be owing utility bills, property rate and sanitary fees, according to a report by tv3network.com.
The landlord of the five-bedroom apartment being used for the clinic, Abusuapanin Kofi Ansah Darko, said the building was leashed out for five years in 1972, yet the clinic has been at the place for 44 years.
He reportedly complained that the managers of the clinic had failed over the years to keep the building in good shape, adding that he had had to take that up as his responsibility throughout those years.
He is said to have added that the clinic had also refused to settle its GH₵2,000-debt in electricity bills since 2000.
