Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) says all political parties register minors in the voters’ register in order to secure an advantage during elections.
Speaking on ‘The Pulse’ on Joy TV, Mr Nketia said it is the political parties, and not the Electoral Commission (EC), that must take responsibility for what has been described as a bloated register.
“We are the people who create the problems and we turn to blame the Electoral Commission … Most of the problems are created by political parties [because of] their desire to outwit each other.
“That is why I always have problems when all the blame is being heaped on the Electoral commission, There is no way the EC by itself can conduct such exercise without the cooperation of political party agents,” he said.
The NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have accused each other of engaging in electoral irregularities, including the registration of minors, in the limited biometric voter registration exercise which is expected to end on Sunday.
