With the Electoral Commission’s Limited Voters Registration exercise ending today some officials at the various registration centers have called for an extension of the date.

Registration officer at the Ayalolo registration center in the Ashiedu Keteke electoral area in Accra, Dominic Andoh lamented that with the numbers they were seeing today there was the need for the extension of the deadline.

“We can’t register everybody, absolutely not… we have problems with light here so we may not be able to even take pictures when it gets dark.We trying to do our best as electoral officers to register [as many as we can]  for those we cannot capture we will talk to the political party agents and if there is anything else to do, it will have to come from the higher authorities,” he stated.

The 11-day exercise by the EC gave people who have turned 18 years to register to enable them exercise their voting rights during the November polls. The registration exercise has been characterized by all sorts of incidents; from low turnout to violence in some centers across the country.
