One student of the Okuapeman Senior High School got injured after fire gutted a boys' dormitory of the Akuffo house on Sunday, May 8.
The injured student is currently on admission at the Tetteh Quashie Memorial Hospital at Mampong-Akuapim in the Eastern Region.
George Opare Addo, the Akuapim North Municipal Chief Executive narrated to Joy News that the students were having church service at the Assembly Hall of the school when the fire started.
The dormitory which houses about 50 students was seriously destroyed by the fire with several other properties of the students destroyed. The wooden windows of the dormitory were blackened.
It took the intervention of the fire service to douse the fire. Mr Opare-Addo told Joy News the fire team which put out the fire has begun investigating the cause of the fire.
Although the cause of the fire is yet to be known, it is believed to have been caused by an electrical appliance that was left on by a student in the dormitory.
The displaced students have been temporarily housed in dormitories of final year students who completed few weeks ago.
