A 12-year-old boy, Obed Boateng, is battling for his life, following a building collapse Monday night at Asiakwa in the East Akyem municipality of the Eastern region.
The house reportedly crumbled when the mother of the victim was out on an errand, according to a report by Accra-based Starr FM.
The boy's life is said to be hanging by a thread after he was rushed to the Osiem Hawa Memorial Hospital.
An eyewitness is said to have said that it would take prayers and a miracle for the boy to survive.
The timely intervention of residents in the area reportedly helped prevent more casualties.
The accident comes just three weeks after a building collapsed on a lotto kiosk during a heavy downpour at Essreso in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region, killing two people.
Two others sustained injuries in the incident which occurred at about 7:30pm, according to a report by graphic.com.gh
The four were said to have been sheltering in the lotto kiosk which had been placed behind the abandoned building – a former palace – when the accident occurred.
