Elorm Adablah, known by his stagename, EL, has said that he anticipated being named ‘Artiste of the Year’ at the 2016 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday.
EL told Kumasi-based Ultimate FM that winning the coveted award did not surprise him at all, as he had put in sufficient effort in the year under review to land it.
He also said he had been confident of winning several awards, including ‘Best Rapper’.

However, while the rapper won five awards out of nine nominations, including Best Music Video of the Year, Producer of the Year, Hip-life/Hip-Hop Artiste of the Year, Afro-pop Song of the Year and ‘Artiste of the Year’, the ‘Best Rapper’ award eluded him and was picked up by Sarkodie instead.
EL revealed that since Saturday, his phone and social media pages have been inundated will congratulatory calls and messages from fans, friends and colleagues.
