Chairman of the council, Most Rev. Emmanuel Asante says he supports the calls by affected groups who want the date extended stating that the “EC should consider the appeals that have been made by the students considering the fact that they were not at fault in not registering...They have submitted an appeal, stating the problems that they had and I think it will be good if the EC looks at it carefully and see what they can do for them.”

YEN.com.gh had earlier reported that the Electoral Commission (EC) says there will be no need for an extension of the just ended limited voters’ registration exercise, since it registered 92 percent of new voters following demands by some political parties, student bodies and individuals for it to extend the period to allow more people to register.
