The price of tomato has shot up again in May, according to Esoko research.Tomato price increased by 21% compared to the 20% it recorded last week.
The research indicated that a medium size tomato tin sells at GHC 13. But Esoko Ghana has attributed the continuous increase in tomato prices to the current weather pattern.
According to Esoko the situation has also resulted in low output yield insufficient to meet demand resulting in the drastic increase in prices.
Also the research showed that cassava recorded the second highest in price by 5%; the produce has been in short supply in recent times.
Other food produce that saw marginal increase in price are; gar, local rice.
Meanwhile the price of millet dropped 2% in price to close the week at GHC 7.30 per medium size tin. Soya bean also dropped by 1% to close the week at GHC 6 per medium size tin.
