Nana Obiri-Yeboah picks Jury Award for HAFF with feature film
Ghanaian feature film, “The Cursed Ones” has been awarded with the Jury Award for “Human Rights and Social Commentary” at the Helsinki African Film Festival (HAFF).

The movie is the second feature film directed by Nana Obiri Yeboah and recently won some top Ghana Movie Awards in its short run, including the 2016 Canada International Film Festival for Foreign Feature Film.
“The Cursed Ones” which have the likes of Ama K Abebrese, Oris Erhuero, Fred Amugi, Ophelia Dzidzornu, David Dontoh and award winning Haitian actor, Jimmy Jean-Lewis all starring caught the eye of the award panel with its strong theme.

Written by Maximilian Claussen and centred on the village setting, the story sees a little girl caught in society’s prejudiced stance on superstition and unfortunately branded a witch in the obsession.
