The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has denied reports that there is shortage of cassava on the market as is being speculated by a section of the media.

There has been news out there that Ghana’s staple crop was scarce on the local market and that its prices had risen sharply over the past few months.

Kwesi Korboe, the USAID technical Advisor to the Ministry says there is no need for people to be alarmed by such news since there was an abundance of the crop on the Ghanaian market, irrespective of the hot weather experienced lately.

He told CitiFM that enough cassava had been planted way above what the nation needed for its household and industrial consumption.
