Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, is marking one-year anniversary of the ‘dumsor must stop’ vigil she organised to protest rampant power outages, known as ‘dumsor’, in the country.
The actress initially started the #dumsormuststop campaign on social media, after which she was joined by other Ghanaian celebrities.
They eventually took their campaign offline with the vigil that was attended by hundreds of people in Accra.
In a post on Instagram on Tuesday, Yvonne Nelson expressed gratitude to all those who participated in the vigil and made it a success.
“Thank you for walking with us, Ghana,” she wrote.
Celebrities such as Van Vicker, Prince David Osei, Wanlov Kubolor, Efya, DKB, Barima Sidney, Afia Schwarzenegger, and D-Black participated in the vigil, which began at 4pm at the University of Ghana overhead bridge.
The held a peaceful procession from the Legon overhead bridge through some principal streets, with the celebrities and their fans holding candles, torchlight, placards in protest at the power crisis.
