APC charges GHC 100, 000 as filing fee

The All People’s Congress (APC) have announced that members who are interested in picking nomination forms for the party’s presidential slot can do so.

Interested persons will have to cough up GHC 100, 000. The cost of picking and filing of the presidential nomination forms is GHC 5,000.00 and  GHC 95,000.00 respectively.

According to a statement signed by the APC’s general secretary, Razak Kojo Opoku, all interested and eligible party members can pick the nomination forms from the party headquarters at Haatso-Westland (West Legon) between 10am-1pm each day.

All aspiring candidates must qualify to contest for the position of president of the Republic of Ghana in accordance with Article 62 of the 1992 constitution,” the statement noted.

The deadline for filing the forms is Monday, May 23, 2016.  Also vetting process of prospective candidates will be on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at the party headquarters.

APC’s presidential filing fee becomes the highest in the history of Ghana’s democratic governance following that of the opposition New Patriotic Party’s figure of GHC 85,000 charged ahead of its 2014 primaries.
