Pro-NPP group calls on Nana Addo to resign

A support group of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Save NPP Now is insisting on the flag-bearer of the party Nana Addo to resign in order to forestall any humiliating defeat ahead of the November polls.

Citing cases of violence and in house wrangling in the party director of communications for the group Baah Acheamfour said the party had had its electoral fortunes dwindled since Nana Akufo-Addo took over the leadership in 2008 arguing that it was not safe for Nana Addo to be president of Ghana.

The call by the pro-NPP group follows the suspension of the party's chairman Paul Afoko together with other top hierarchy of the party. The party has also had to face the brunt of internal divisions as some political analysts fear the party is bound to still stay in opposition should the party's internal problems not be solved.
