A three-storey building under construction at Berekusu in the Eastern Region is feared to have collapsed trapping an unknown amount of construction workers under the rubble with rescue workers yet to report at the scene.
A teacher at a school close by Andrews Osei Bonsu reported to Citi News that he heard a loud noise whiles he was teaching only to find out that part of the building had collapsed. He quoted a food vendor close to the building as saying that, two workers she was about to sell food to have been trapped in the building.
“The lady said that she saw at least two people who have been trapped. But I am told there were other people working on top of the building so we currently don’t have the exact number of those trapped under there aside the two,” he narrated.
The collapse of uncompleted buildings still remains a troubling development to government and various metropolitan assemblies as owners of such buildings are reported to constantly flaunt the rules of gaining a permit.
