Top official at Komfo Anokye arrested for embezzlement

Police in the Ashanti region have arrested chairman of the Health Services Workers Union (HSWU) of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) Ernest Badu-Boateng for allegedly embezzling monies belonging to members of the union.

The arrest which was made through a tip-of follows claims that Ernest embezzled a total of 92,352.67 cedis from welfare and development funds.

The Committee also cited the Volta regional industrial relations officer, Samuel Mensah and other former executives of the Union in the misappropriation of funds.

The investigation reveals Ernest Badu-Boateng with the help of Samuel Mensah and Nti Ofori Atta of Tafo Government Hospital opened a secret account with Unibank for the transfer of the funds.
