Almost half of students at University of Zimbabwe have HIV

Recent results from voluntary HIV testing at the University of Zimbabwe shows that 47% of the total student population are HIV positive - a development convulsing authorities of the university limit inter-residence visits between male and female students.

Confirming the results, Vice Chancellor Levi Nyagura said that criticism of his management style would not deter him from limiting contact between male and female students as well as strongly advising against promiscuity.

“The grim statistics of sexually transmitted diseases at the institution have forced us to have a limit for inter-residence visits between female and male students," the troubled vice chancellor insisted.

Africa remains the continent with the highest rate of HIV infections with South Africa coming being the country in the world with worsened infection rates.
