PURC to tackle high utility tariffs

The Public Regulatory Commission (PURC) says it is doing everything possible to resolve concerns associated with utility tariffs that has caused dissatisfaction among businesses.

Director of regulatory economics at the commission Simon Akorli has assured in the wake of various concerns from affected customers his outfit was doing everything possible to resolve the problem.

“After the announcement of the tariff, we have heard several complains and most of the complains were specific to billing errors among other issues. We have been addressing that on continuous bases and we assure you that we are still addressing them,” he said.

The hikes in utility tariffs is feared to not only have affected the output of businesses but also seen hundred of private sector workers lose their jobs, the Institute of Commercial Workers (ICU) has revealed.
