One dead, two injured in renewed B/A chieftaincy clashes

One person has reportedly been shot dead while two others have sustained gunshot wounds in renewed chieftaincy clashes at Kato, near Brekum in the Brong Ahafo region.

The shooting followed blockades mounted by two factions in the chieftaincy dispute to prevent people from Sunyani and Berekum entering the town, Accra-based Starr FM reported on Monday.

According to the report, the road blocks were mounted in protest at the installation of a new chief while the other faction blocked another road leading to the town in retaliation.

The two people who sustained gunshot wounds are said to have been referred to the Holy Family Hospital in the region for treatment.

Police reinforcements are said to have been deployed to the town to help restore law and order.
