Glitz Africa, publishers of Glitz Africa Magazine has held the maiden Ghana Women Of The Year Honours to bring to the fore the contribution of women and celebrate their good works for the society. The honourees were celebrated in the fields of business, media, health, education, corporate personality and arts and given trailblazer awards.
Grace Nortey was honoured for her contribution to the development of the Arts and Creative sector. The veteran actress has inspired many young actors with her talent and serves as an inspiration to young ones.
Beatrice Aidoo was presented with honours for Excellence in Media while Grace Obeng, C.E.O of FC Company earned the Excellence in Business Award. Dr Beatrice Wiafe Addai of Breast Care International and Peace and Love Hospital was also honoured with the Excellence In Health Award.
Farida Nana Efua Bedwei, Co- founder and Chief Technical Officer at Logiciel, was honoured with the Trailblazer award for her contribution in software engineering. Farida hasn’t allowed her cerebral palsy to prevent her from achieving her dreams.
Dr Joy Henrietta Mensa-Bonsu was honoured with the Excellence in Education Award. She is currently the Director of the Legon Centre for International Affairs and Diplomacy and a full professor of Criminal law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Ghana.
Ms Lucy Quist , The Managing Director of Airtel Ghana, picked the Corporate Personality award and Ms Abena Asomaning Antwi of Angel Zoe foundation was honoured with the Excellence in Humanities award for “bringing hope to prison inmates”.
Miss Jessica Ayeley Quaye, a former student of Wesley Girls High School who was adjudged the Over all best student for the 2015 WASSCE Exams was appreciated for her academic prowess.
The ceremony hosted by Doreen Andoh also saw sterling performances from singers, Nana Yaa, Yaayaa, No Tribe and Becca. The special guest of honour was the Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur.
