Police are set to charge and arraign former Black Stars defender, John Painstil, before court tomorrow, following his arrest and detention for assaulting an officer and allegedly stealing his wife’s vehicle.
Paintsil was put behind bars on Tuesday after he flared up during an interrogation and hit DSP Emmanuel Basintale, the district commander of the East Legon police station in Accra.
The former Fulham defender was being questioned after his wife reported to the police that he had stolen her car.
Painstil became angry during interrogation and hit the officer, reports said.
He is set to be charged with “stealing, causing harm, assault and offensive conduct on a police officer”.
This is not the first time the defender has broken the law.
He was held in police custody in 2013 for assaulting his wife and beating a neighbour who tried to save the situation.
