The first months of a premature baby's life are the most difficult for the baby and for the parents. Fortunately, modern medical knowledge and technology make it possible for babies born at small terms to survive. Sometimes technology is all that saves a tiny life hanging by a thread – technology and the power of parental love.
A birth is considered premature when it occurs before 37 weeks of pregnancy, but with Lyndsey Miles it was rather an extreme case. Her baby, Ward, was born at 25 weeks. He weighed just under 1.5 lbs. and spent the first 107 days of his life in Neonatal Intensive Care.
Ward's dad, Benjamin, is a professional photographer. He documented the first year of his son's life, including the moving moments when Lyndsey gets to hold him for the first time. This beautiful video shows their struggle and victory, and it's worth seeing even if you are indifferent to children. In fact, it might even change your mind!
Warning: this WILL make you cry.
