Police arrest assemblyman for allegedly killing Fulani cattle

The assemblyman for New Oworobong Kwahu in the Eastern Region, Kofi Asante has been arrested by police for allegedly killing 10 cattle belonging to some Fulani herdsmen in the area.

Kofi Asante is reported to have led the people of Oworobong in an operation on Wednesday dubbed “Fulanis must leave our land” aimed at getting rid of all Fulani cattle on Oworobong lands.

Residents claim that the presence of the herdsmen and their cattle in the area pose threats to their farms and properties. According to them, the destructive activities of the herdsmen are affecting them physically and economically. Residents in those towns have complained that the Fulanis and their cattle have been destroying their crops and farmlands and have subsequently asked government to evict them or face their wrath.
