The police in Accra have busted one Adams Arimeyaw who it is alleged practiced and operated a facility as a doctor in Madina, near Accra for 20 years without certification from any authorized body.
Dr Adams Aremeyaw as he was popularly referred to, operated the healthcare facility, Covenant Clinic from a compound house which was found to be unkempt and its surroundings, unhygienic which posed health risks to his clients.
A combined special exercise by the Medical and Dental Council’s investigative team, with the assistance of the Madina police command led to the arrest of the quack doctor on Thursday.
The mid-50s man practiced a one man delivery system, where he operated as a nurse, pharmacist and lab technician.
All these came to light when he fumbled at queries on his assistants and where he trained. He reportedly claimed he trained in Europe but was not able to mention the name of the medical school he trained at and also found to be inconsistent with the year he graduated.
The search team stumbled upon a large quantity of pregnancy test kits and hundreds of used and unused syringes and needles in one of the rooms.

Dr Eli Kwasi Atikpui, the registrar at the Ghana Medical and Dental Council said the exercise which will continue in Accra till July, 2016 is not only aimed at exposing illegal practitioners but also those who failed to renew their certificates with the body.
