Violence has erupted at Krofrom in Kumasi after an autopsy report exonerated three police officials who were accused of torturing a 22-year-old man to death in the area.
The autopsy report, which was issued by pathologists at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, said Richmond Osei died of congestive heart failure - suggesting that he died of natural causes.
The report has angered the youth in the area, who are reportedly going after police officials and burning tyres in the streets.
They have also blocked the airport-Krofrom highway, according to a report by Kumasi-based Ultimate FM.
The autopsy report has also been rejected by members of Richmond's family, who suspect a cover-up by the police.
Some of them who claimed to have witnessed the police assault Richmond until he died vowed to resort to black magic to deal with his killers.
Reports say Richmond was arrested by the police last week after they accused him of committing a crime.
Three police officials reportedly assaulted the victim with batons and dragged him on the streets till he became unconscious.
He was later bundled into a police van and sent to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital, the reports said.
Richmond's death sparked outrage, with youth in the area taking to the streets in a violent protest last Friday.
