Star actor, John Dumelo, has denied claims that he landed an ambassadorial deal with Ghana's tourism ministry because of his affiliation to the government.
Dumelo endorsed President John Mahama ahead of the 2012 election. He has also endorsed him for 2016, publicly stating that: #IchooseJM.
The actor has been sighted with the president on campaign platforms of the National Democratic Congress.
All these have led to speculation that the ambassadorial deal with the tourism ministry is one of the freebies he is getting from being a Mahama supporter.
But in an interview with Accra-based Joy FM on Saturday, Dumelo said that was not the case.

He said he was not getting any monetary benefit from the deal and that he was rather using his own resources to play the role out of his love for the country.
“It has nothing to with job for the boys or it has nothing to do with it because I said I like this person or that person hence this is my reward - no. My reward is serving my country and that is what I am doing,” he said.
Edwin Owusu-Mensah, the chief director at the ministry, echoed Dumelo's remarks on the same medium, stating that the actor's appointment as ambassador was because of his influence in society.
