Ghana FA boss to vie for FIFA Council membership

Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi could contest one of Africa’s slots on the new FIFA Council, Footballghana.com has reported.

The FA chief is already a member of the CAF Executive Committee and is expected to confirm his candidature for elections onto the FIFA Council in accordance with the provisions of article 18.5 of the CAF statutes in the coming days.

Nyantakyi has been exceptional as Ghana FA boss since assuming office in 2005 for the top job and many have tipped him to get into FIFA.

CAF communicated on Wednesday that the election of two African additional members to the FIFA Council for the transitional period 30 September 2016 to 16 March 2017 will be conducted on 29 September 2016.
