Atlanta United have signed Ghanaian young player, Jeffrey Otoo from Charity Stars FC in Accra.
The 18-year-old who scored 21 goals from 13 games in the Division 2 League for Charity Stars last season will be farmed out on loan to Charleston Battery, Atlanta United’s USL affiliate for the remainder of the 2016 season.
At 5’ 9” the naturally left footed striker is described as a strong, powerful and quick young player who is a high energy performer off the ball.
Former USMNT player, Carlos Bocanegra who is the club’s technical director, said they would be keeping the tabs on Otoo with the aim of getting him back for Atlanta’s inaugural season in the MLS for 2017.
“Jeffrey is a talented young player who we identified through our international scouting network.
“Having him signed with us at this time enables him to play with Charleston Battery and get familiar with US soccer ahead of our inaugural season in 2017,” said Bocanegra.
The Ghanaian is expected in the US next week to begin his career with Charleston Battery.
