Mahama to play in 2016 Vodafone Peace Match on Saturday

President John Mahama will demonstrate his love for sports, especially football, by playing in the 2016 Vodafone Peace Match scheduled for Saturday, June 11 in Accra.

Sports Minister Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, who revealed this, said the president pledged support for the match and confirmed his participation before he headed to the Ivory Coast on an official visit.

The minister said President Mahama expressed his joy at the initiative and stated that he would play even if for two minutes.

The match will see a Stephen Appiah-led World XI side take on the Black Stars at the Accra Sports Stadium.

It is not immediately clear which side the president will play for.
