Madina police destroy drugs in compliance with court order

The Madina divisional police command in compliance with a Madina magistrate court order, destroyed large quantities of narcotic drugs and other exhibits that have been in their possession for the past 10 years.

The drugs included indian hemp, heroin, cocaine, and an undisclosed amount of fake local and foreign currencies retrieved from suspected criminals.

Superintendent Joe Oppong, the Madina divisional crime officer led the exercise which was undertaken at the Aviation Park near Ashaley Botwe in Accra.

The police team ensured that the items were burnt to ashes as ordered by the court and therefore had to spend two hours to oversee the total destruction.

The police had applied for the destruction of the items because some of the drugs had been in their keeps for a decade and were even attracting rodents.

ASP Affia Tengey the Accra regional police relations public officer told newsmen that the Madina Police had gone through all procedures for the exercise.
