Farmers in Keta say road projects are meaningless

Farmers in the Keta Municipality say development projects carried out by the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is fruitless adding that such projects do not economically benefit them.

The Chairman of the Vegetable Farmers Association, Roland Tudzi, said farmers in Keta are yet to benefit from the numerous policies and programs by government to address challenges in the agriculture sector.

“Frankly speaking, Mr. President, your achievement in the road sector is meaningless to farmers if our occupation cannot guarantee the purchase of bicycle to ride on the roads with the high cost of energy which forms the basis for irrigated agriculture,” he stated.

The farmers were expressing their displeasure during a demonstration to protest against high electricity bills which they claim is stifling their business.
