Two officials of the Ghana Education Service have been arrested by the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in the ongoing verification and validation exercise for the staff of the service.
Nana Ernest Appiah Antwi-Bosiako, the headmaster of Adansi Anwiaso DA Junior High School, and Robert Nyame, the district coordinator of the school Health Education Programme (SHEP), illegally recruited 100 teachers in the district between 2010 and 2012, according to a report by the Daily Graphic.
They two are said to have charged between GHc1000 and GHc2000 to input the data of the affected teachers onto the integrated payroll personnel database.
The report said Nyame refunded the money paid by 70 of the affected teachers after he was arrested by the BNI.
The two are being held in BNI custody.
