He told Accra-based 3fm on Monday that he was shifting focus to preparing to be named as Ghana’s ambassador to Germany, should President John Mahama win the November elections.

“Oh I’ve stopped boxing and I’m now a politician. Yes, I want to concentrate fully on my ambassador to Germany job when President Mahama wins the 2016 election.”

Banku had previously told reporters that he was bleaching his skin so that he could be white and eligible for the ambassadorship position, which he claimed the president had promised him.

Apart from facing criticism for bleaching, the boxer has faced criticism from members of the public for indecent exposure.

In a series of of videos he recently released, endorsing President Mahama and the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Banku exposed his butt, angering many Ghanaians.

The NDC has already condemned what it described as the boxer’s uncivilised conduct.

A psychologist, Dr Asampong, has also called for Banku to be called to order.
