Kumasi police arrest robber who allegedly killed policeman

The Ashanti Regional police say they have arrested one of the robbers who shot and killed a policeman at a hotel at Denkyembuoso in Kumasi.

According to the police, Abena Serwaa, 28, hired the two other robbers – who are on the run – to rob the hotel.

A total of GH¢1,487, marijuana and medical supplies were said to have been retrieved from the suspect.

The arrest comes a week after the Ashanti Regional police command said it had identified the robbers who killed the policeman and another man in a separate robbery incident.

DCOP Kofi Boakye, the police commander, said five people who belonged to two separate robbery groups were responsible for the Denchemuoso and Kokoben robbery incidents, according to a report by the Daily Guide.

He said although the police had identified them, their identities would not be disclosed until they were arrested.
