Central regional minister,Kweku Ricketts-Hagan has revealed that a garment and shoe manufacturing factory is expected to be established in Cape Coast by the end of the year.
According to him the factory will also train over 1,500 people at the training centre that would be part of the factory.
“God willing the factory will be ready before elections or three months after elections,”Ricketts-Hagan who is also the MP for Cape Coast South said, noting it will create alot of employment opportunities.
Ricketts-Hagan opined that all equipment for the factory are ready and waiting to be shipped into the country for construction to begin, all business plans are ready.
The minister further stated the factory will take advantage of the African Growth and Opportunity Act to export the products from the factory to the US market.
He made the announcement at the graduation ceremony of some 200 people who completed apprenticeship in sewing and hairdressing in the Cape Coast South constituency.
The apprentices were given hairdryers and sewing machine and GHC500 each.
