The Takordi Port Health Clinic, which was established to aid in the prevention of disease transfer from other sea ports to Ghana, is no longer able to perform its role as crew members of foreign vessels are refusing to patronise it.
The crew members say conditions at the facility are deplorable and that is operating below international standards.
Accra-based Joy FM reported on Tuesday that the crew members do not even want to submit to vaccinations at the clinic out of fear of contracting diseases.
Apart from a lack of fridges to store vaccinations and drugs, the facility is also faced with water and electricity problems.

The superintendent of the clinic, Edward Saka, said the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GHAPOHA) had failed to support the clinic to enable it execute its mandate efficiently.
