A tanker driver is currently in a critical condition after the vehicle he was driving plunged into a river in the Upper Dankyira West District in the Central region.
The vehicle which was carrying diesel from Ayamfuri was heading to Subin when the accident occurred at about 11:30 AM on Tuesday. One side of a shabby wooden bridge caved in with the tanker tumbling down the river.
A conductor who was on the vehicle with the driver narrowly escaped the accident because he alighted to direct the driver when the weak bridge caused the accident.
Meanwhile residents pleaded with government to fix the dilapidated bridge in the shortest possible time.
