Accra police arrest drivers who cross red lights

The Accra Central Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) has intensified efforts at arresting drivers who flaunt traffic signs.

Reports show that police are  employing the use of hidden cameras at vantage points on roads to arrest especially red light jumpers. The move, according to the Operations Officer at the Accra Central MTTD, ASP Sulemana Sulley Jnr, would enable the MTTD to arrest and punish motorists who speed off when the traffic lights turns red.

So far, among those arrested and looking visibly embarrassed were a driver from the Ghana College of Physicians, a staff of Fidelity Bank who was using the bank’s branded vehicle and the driver of a bullion pick-up.
