Armed robbers have shot a woman at Kenyase-Gyebi in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.
The robbers shot the woman, a baker, in the arm and made away with Gh¢13,500, according to a report by Kumasi-based Nkyira FM.
The robbers were said to have been armed with Ak-47 assault rifles and a pump action gun.
The victim reportedly identified one Tanko, an ex-convict, as the robber who shot her.
Tanko is said to be one of 19 suspected criminals recently declared wanted by the Ashanti Regional police command.
Armed robbery cases in the Ashanti Region are on the increase despite the police headquarters in Accra having dispatched a special anti-terrorist squad to Kumasi to suppress the high spate of crime there, which has resulted in a series of deaths in recent times.
However, the police have also made gains, arresting one of the robbers who shot and killed a policeman at a hotel at Denkyembuoso in Kumasi.
They have also arrested nine other suspected criminals and initiated an operation to arrest 19 more, including a former policeman, Mutala Musah.
